He turned down NFL offers a few years ago.

He is interesting. He is a players coach. Not sure how he would do in the SEC.

In this day and age, why would you leave a job like ISU? He makes north of $5 million per year and has much more stability and realistic expectations.

I get the drive to win a title. With the 12 team playoff, you likely have a more clear path at ISU than with an SEC team.

he has said as much himself. talks about his family being primary, they love state of Iowa, bragged in a recent press conference that he coached his daughters softball team and won a title.

he turned down the lions for the same reason.

the guy is a great coach and all class. he'd probably say no but you have to ask. proven leader, proven winner.

You're right. That's exactly the guy you want to go after. Values first always shows up on the field.

That said, he's built so much goodwill at ISU, I don't think I'd throw that away chasing money. If $5 million per year isn't enough, you're doing something wrong.

Best career advice I ever got, "don't mess with happy for money, it's you that will end up paying".

I agree.
How about Bob Chesney. He is the James Madison coach now. His resume is impressive. Wouldn’t take a lot of money to get him. It worked for Indiana. Don’t mean it will work at LSU.

He seems to have the chops to make a move. He's coming up on Penn States search since he's a Central PA native.

He's won everywhere he's been, but not sure airdropping into LSU from ranks that low is setting up for success. He's only two years removed from coaching in the equivalent of the Ivy League.
