The guy had Superman
and just finished coaching High School a few years ago.
He may turn out to be a great HC I'm just not willing for the experiment to take place at LSU

Took me a while to warm up to him but from listening to the guy i think he has greatness written all over him.Not sure we allow him to get his 1st HC job here though.His offense is not dependent on a running QB.Mitch Mustain is definitely not a running QB and that's the QB he had when his name was made.He adjusts according to the personnel.

i think he is legite.....his seasons at tulsa were unbelievable....finishing as the best offense in the nation....one year at arkansas and they won the west..........GOOD RESUME

The striking numbers shouldn't have come as a surprise, as during Malzahn's two seasons at Tulsa, his offenses there were also among the nation's finest, ranking first nationally in total offense in 2007 and 2008.
The 2008 Tulsa offense averaged 569.9 yards per game and was second nationally averaging 47.2 points per games. The Hurricane offense was first in the country in third down conversion percentage (57.0 pct.) and yards per play (7.27 ypp) and was also fifth nationally in rushing offense (268.0) and ninth in passing offense (301.9 ypg).
In 2007, Malzahn's offense ranked as the nation's top offense, gaining 543.9 yards per game. The Hurricane also ranked third nationally for passing, fifth for pass efficiency and 10th for scoring offense.
Tulsa's offense in 2007 established nine team school records and 12 individual records. The Hurricane also set nine Conference USA team records, while Tulsa quarterback Paul Smith broke an NCAA record by throwing for at least 300 yards in 14 consecutive games.
During Malzahn's one season at Arkansas in 2006, the Razorbacks finished with a 10-4 record and were SEC West Division Champions.
Two of Malzahn's first three collegiate offenses ranked in the top 10 nationally in rushing, including the 2008 Tulsa team that was fifth averaging 268.0 yards per game, and his 2006 Arkansas offense that was fourth nationally (228.5 ypg) behind Heisman Trophy runner-up Darren McFadden and fellow All-American Felix Jones.
Arkansas was also ranked among the top-35 nationally in total offense and scoring offense. He was named the Rivals.com National Offensive Coordinator of the Year in 2006.

cam or no cam, he has been top 20 in offense in the country ever since he got to the college game, including 2 seasons #1 (both at tulsa). forget the fact that he is 5 years removed from HS ball, dude has it as an O-coor. HC ability remains to be seen.

Malzahn would be a bit easier to get. Taking him from Auburn would hurt them BAD. Dude would light it up with Mett.

06 arkansas: 20

09 auburn: 16
10 auburn: 7
and hes never had the same QB for 2 years in a row
hes creative, innovative, and adapts to his personnel. hes a good leader, good recruiter, and has been extremely successful every step of his career. and we can get him for cheap right now (you know the AD would loooove that)

That's an important point; Mullen, et al. won't come cheap. If LSU would give him a shot and he was successful, a strong bond would form. He might the guy to push this thing over the top, especially if the defensive staff was held intact and he kept Gonzo and Wilson.

Another thing in Malzhan's favor over Mullen is that mullen is a guy that you either love or hate.He turns off a lot of people,recruits included.I would certainly understand the logic of going after him first because he has more experience but his personality is very strong and can be a liabilty.Malzhan is liked by everyone that isn't threatened by him(talking to you Houston Nutt).2 birds,1 stone with malzhan.Good hire for us and hurts Auburn some.They' are a much bigger threat than MSU.
