It's not worth it this time around. He's signed. He's spoken publicly. It's not Saban.

No way he does that again. It was such a clusterfrick when he lied, I can't believe he would make that mistake twice.

Saban can now go to Texas without looking like he pushed Mack out which would have greatly alienated a significant segment of Texas fans who remain loyal to Brown.
Saban can honestly say he planned on staying in Tuscaloosa, "I even signed a new contract," but Texas' offer was just too good to turn down.

Look, there was no opening yesterday. There is today. Things change.
He said he was staying at Alabama. All coaches say that. He said he never considered the Texas job. What Texas job? There was no opening. There was nothing to consider.
Everything is different now.
He very well could stay at Alabama. He probably will. But, he could also go to Texas without any problem. Yesterday changed nothing.

He's done this very thing before.

I'm not saying it's impossible. I'm saying I don't believe it happens. I'm no longer in the "he gone" camp.

what about this do people not understand?
it was supposed to open yesterday, and then people were talking about it not opening till next week.
saban didn't want to deal with the questioning while in NYC for the heisman ceremony. he wanted to squash it IMO.

We know that the big money people want Saban.
They will pressure the Texas AD to make an offer.
It will be SUBSTANTIALLY larger than what he just agreed to at Alabama.
Texas will make the offer. What do they have to lose?
Saban will have to either accept a 10/100 mill offer, take it to Alabama and ask for even MORE money, or turn it down and leave $3 million a year sitting on the table.
Which option seems most plausible?
