How can it not be?

If Texas calls next week offering 10 years at 100 million, does Saban just refuse to listen because he agreed to an extension with Alabama for $7 million a year?

He listens.

NOW, there is an opening. Everything has changed.

Who knows what Saban will do. But, he might now have something to think about, whereas before, he didn't.

So Texas never contacted Sexton prior to the job opening?

This is quite the narrative change from earlier this week.

That's the only way that the new narrative works.

I'd say this was a chess move to see how high Alabama would go when Sexton wouldn't say.

Bama made their move, Texas knows where the high water mark is, and now they don't have to give Nicky any part of the LHN/Future Big 12 network.

University's never contact anyone that could be tortious interference with contact. They just fly Sexton to a big bosters suite at a Cowboys game and he just talk to Sexton about whether Nick would be interested for say something in the 8-10 million a year range.

No offer, Nothing official, just two big swing dicks watching a Cowboys game drinking some good whiskey and company of a few hot women paid for the night.

Of course they did. But now, Saban has plausible deniability. It was all rumor and conjecture. There was not opening. Saban agrees to the extension and the whole thing is done.

Wait . . . what just happened????

Mack Brown resigned????

Are you kidding me????

Texas places a call to Sexton/Saban next week saying that there is NOW a job opening and they would like to make an offer of 10 yrs/100million to Saban. Would he consider this?

There is no buyout.

He considers it, as anyone would.

The negotiations are back on and Saban then does whatever he wants.

I think that we will see this play out within the next 4 days.

So.. Bama fans' excuse was that "There isn't a job opening", well there is now..

Of course they wouldn't contact saban directly, he didn't lie about that.. and what if... just maybe... everything saban said in his statement was to further prove to mack that he wasn't coming to texas so he would step down. now that he has, saban can come in. i think saban called his bluff and it was all a work behind the scenes with patterson and powers...

If Saban goes to Texas, it will be the most insane coaching hires of all time.
