All the debt stories were such crap. The LLCs hold the debt. Not Saban. Saban is a general partner within the framework of the LLCs. Also, the LLCs hold large debts; but the properties still have value. He would take a haircut if they were complete failures, but it would not be nearly as significant as what was suggested here.

The debt didn't disappear completely as far as we know if just changed hands. No way they tear that up before he signs. Even Texans are not that freaking stupid. He isnt making enough to pay that off, so where did it go?
Now it may actually be 15 million net. According to some of the the bankruptcy filings the apartments were worth 25 million and he was the LOG on a 25 million note, so this could be washed if that is correct. Did not really look into that aspect of it because I was just assuming who ever got the note took the apts.
Now you could get the 15 down to 5 or 6 he could handle that

Wrong wright he had personal letters of guarantee on the debt, read the bankruptcies, and court filings, all subject to Rule 11 and bankruptcy fraud rules.
I know a guy that lost 200 million worth of apartments in Louisiana and Texas in the collapse of 08 due to no fault of his own. One day he had 50 million LOC at 6 banks and was building three new complexes he next day it was zero and in the end the mf banks that caused the collapse ended up with his property. I kid u not, could be a sixty minute special.
You almost wonder if this was a genius move by Sexton to get this debt issue taken care of by Bama or UT make Saban still seem like next coming of Christ and line his pockets.

The force you into bankruptcy or off a debt swap, in his case all your assets for debt forgiveness which u then have to pay taxes on btw.
