OU doesn't have the same type dudes in their locker room that SEC teams do. No team in the BigXII-2 does.
He will inherit a defense that is probably better than any defense he has been able to field in his time at OU.
If he, or any potential coach for that matter, dont understand that you better be stout in all 3 phases of the game in order to win the SEC, then we are looking at the wrong dude.

Aranda is a terrible recruiter. Terrible.
I don't think terrible is fair. This is basically his first season to recruit his guys. I get your point about it being Rhule's guys but he got some talent while at LSU and coached them up once they got here.

subject is intriguing, message is disapointing. let's do better than this

Agree. Aranda would be a great hire. A coach on the way up who can complete full sentences. Won’t need home run coordinator hires and the players seem to respond and buy in to his system. Has SEC experience and great success at LSU as DC.
Riley has proven to be a great QB and WR recruiter and can light up the scoreboard as long as he has an NFL-quality QB, but eventually you have to put up some resistance defensively. Going on 5 years, his defenses can’t seem to cover or tackle. That will be a problem in the SEC.
Also, Aranda beat Riley head to head last week.

Riley beat Aranda last year. Les Miles beat Nick Saban a few times. Freeze beat Saban. You can be the better coach and lose a football game. I know it's a mind blowing thought

TCU beat Baylor the week they fired their coach.
Has roughly he same talent, late 40s, 50's.
OU is 5th in composite talent ratings.

All of these "I prefer Aranda anyway" posts sound like people trying to rationalize the simple reality that Riley probably isn't coming here.
My personal preference since before O was even fired has been Aranda. I wanted Aranda to get the interim gig over O too.
I got downvoted into oblivion for preferring Aranda over Riley. It's all archived and I don't delete or edit my posts.
