Louisville’s Charlie Strong and Baylor’s Art Briles are unlikely to interview with TX A&M. If Aggies want either, they may have to makeoffer

I know alot of ta&M fans are saying Briles' agent was "sniffing" around and got sent packing...Who knows the truth...I'm pretty sure this is the website that reported it as well.

To me this seems to say BU won't give permission to talk.

What's ta&m's consensus on Strong...has the Richt thing died down or does it still have legs?

Richt and a big name SEC guy interviewed this morning and may be still going. Briles was never really mentioned and Louisville denied permission. Richt is probably not a serious interviewee. Sumlin and Fedora interviewed yesterday. SBB says Sumlin interviewing at ASU right now and Fedora is waiting on word from A&M. He has till today to accept the UNC job otherwise. Supposedly Calhoun from Air Force is interviewing too (lol wtf).

It's hard to say as BU is a private school and keeps coaches salaries/bonuses/incentives close to the vest (which I believe is somewhat of a competitive advantage, thanks Ian Mcaw, BU AD).

He was ESTIMATED by some BS glorified blogger to be in the middle of the pack in the Big 12 a month ago (which is close to last for the SEC)...but the guy simply could not back up his number for BU.

It seems most of you guys HATE Briles for various reasons...where does this "A&M ADMIN never wanted Briles" stuff come from? I'm no disputing it as I sure as hell don't know I just can't seem to find ONE source...not even a tweet.

An interesting aspect of all these "interviews" is the thought they are all using A&M as bargaining chips for their current job.

Im not going to say until it starts getting out. Im fascinated that just about every name has been leaked except this persons.

And yes, if you heard the list of people who asked for interviews your jaw would drop at who but like you said, its all about bargaining power. Being granted an interview is different though.

What it means is they can't interview them so if they want them, they just have to hope they like the guy and what he will do.

I don't hate Briles, I just don't want him anywhere near this program. If I wanted to stay mired in mediocrity, Briles would be the perfect hire.

These coaches who catch lightning in a bottle because of one stud player, usually end up busting big time at the bigger schools they end up at.

Briles is perfect for Baylor... he'll be able to get them bowl eligible 50% of the time in the defense-less Big 12, but he sure as hell won't ever win a championship. Briles can't attract the players or the DCs to play defense so he has to outscore opponents, which he has done decently well this year with a great talent in RG3.

Baylor will be a 4-6 win team when RG3 leaves.

You mean Brett Favre made me appear to be a great coach?

Signed,

Curley Hallman

But he's done it twice, with Kolb and UH and now RGIII.

I'd be leary of Sumlin for those reasons as well. I'd like to see what he can do at a place like ASU first.

Who would like to see A&M go after? Smart or an established coach?

I'm not doubting Briles offensive capabilities.

Loved the Curly Hallman reference.

I'm not real big on Sumlin, with that said, Sumlin's past is a West Coast-Pro Style Offense at A&M and OU as the OC. He's not a finesse spread guy.

I'd like Fedora, or Charlie Strong.
