How denigrating/humiliating can it be for someone with the ego of Kiffin to take the repeated verbal abuse from him? On national TV no less.

God I hope you're not being serious.

He is. Lane was a much more successful HC in the NFL than Saban and to have Saban ripping him a new one every week has to be killing him. I don't think it's enough to make Lane pass over a HC spot to be OC at LSU though. I guarantee you Lane wants out big time.

The buyout is not going to be a problem. Looks like Houston has him locked up.

That's simply false. Lane was 5-15 in the NFL and was fired early into his second season. Saban was 15-17 in the NFL and could've remained with Dolphins if he wanted.

Once. He ripped him once. They've disagreed on several occasions, but Saban was obviously yelling at him only once. "Every week". Ok.

You mean like Herman... He had a $2.5M buyout. That did not stop him from exiting stage left.

Could've been double or triple that, and the Texas boosters wouldn't have batted an eye. $2.5M buyout shouldn't have deterred LSU either, but Alleva is a jackass and wanted to hire a D-line coach who lacks in any particular specialty besides recruiting.

The majority of posts I see about him all say "he won't be there for long". Where's he going?

If he's successful at Houston, Power 5 jobs will come calling. People say he wants to be out west....Arizona, ASU, UCLA all could be looking for new coaches in a year or 2.

Kiffin could probably get more from LSU in Salary with a smaller buyout.

Kiffin won't stay at Houston long. His plan will be to win then get a big time school
with big time money to pay whatever buyout.

So lets flip the script. What happens if Kiffin fails at Houston?
