If it's Kiffin, I'll take that bet in a heartbeat
They don't have the shadow staff, no recruiting base, the roster is talentless and bama, LSU, Auburn and A&M are recruiting great.
Consider it a bet then. 5 years check back in.

Well, since you mention Tennease, let's go back to 2009.
Tennessee program in decline, 5-7 the previous year and looking at Florida with Urban Meyer/Tim Tebow and Alabama with Nick Saban and the best defense in college football.
Lose by 10 to Florida (I watched the game. It was a war). And Alabama has to block a field goal to win.
He did such a horrible job that the Vol fans rioted because he left them.
USC wasn't a great story but he was crippled with scholarship losses. Much like O, he had to fail to learn, and he failed with a winning record.
Goes to Alabama, has two of the worst QB of the Saban era and wins a national championship in a shootout. Makes the championship game another year before Saban boots him for trying to work two jobs at once.
Goes to FAU, a team that was 3-9 for 3 consecutive years prior. 3 years later, playing for their second conference championship.
Whether he goes to Ole Miss or Arkansas, he's about to be a huge pain in the arse for Jimbo, O, and Saban.

Whoever wins the Kiffin lottery will just be looking for a new coach again in 3 years.

I heard it was a done deal to ole miss tonight. From some ppl with reliable sources.

quite possible...
I think he is an ok coach...
I am not sure we wouldn't do better hiring a couple of others out there for Arkansas to begin with. Problem is that the fans need a big name to just have some sort of empathy killer in all of this. Not too many big names available this year. FWIW

Supposedly Sexton and Carter exited the plane together. 30 minutes after it landed rumors started to spread that the deal was done. Who knows? But that is the rumor that is going around.

Exited what plane? Touhy's?
Show me the plane that is an ole Miss plane that went to Boca? A.J. Touhy's plane doesn't count.
Maybe they flew Sean down there so he could speak with Lane about keeping his job here.
Sexton represents more than one coach. Sexton knows who can offer the most money.

They have done well with young up and comers and they will be lined up for that opening.
They have gotten very lucky and also hired from within.

Freeze is a retread at this point. I would HATE to see Memphis make that move.
As much as I don’t like him, Freeze would do incredibly at Memphis. He coached at a very similar program at Arkansas St before he went to Ole Miss and recruited the same types of players, not to mention he lived and coached in Memphis for 12 years. I don’t know why you’d think it’s a bad fit for Memphis.

The worst part with him is baggage. He will be an NCAA target from now until he retires. The further up the ladder he climbs again, the more they will watch him. Memphis doesn’t need that. A guy like Billy Napier is what Memphis will likely look for.
Also, Memphis hasn’t promoted from within except for assistants during their 9 year run. Fuente and Norvell weren’t associated with each other and both came from outside the program. Based on some early reports, this is the first time they will strongly consider promoting from within.

All I see is Hog fans getting bent out of shape over what happened yesterday. While OM may not get Kiffin at all, it's far from done. You think he's not going to hear out another SEC school before making a decision? Especially when that other SEC school may just be in a little better shape early on.

Bent out of shape? Im laughing at yall. The delusion is thick in this place

I still say since Campbell backed out on y’all, you should get Butch Davis. Would be dynamite

That's the equivalent of saying LSU should've hired Mack Brown.
Butch Davis hasn't done anything significant in college football in almost 20 years.

I lived in Knoxville from 2001 till 2013. NikolaiJakov is correct with his assessment of Kiffin’s year at UT. He had UT performing at a much higher level than previous years and was working wonders with a raw quarterback. In 2009 i don’t think anyone was using a shadow staff, he definitely learned the value of having one during his tenure at Bama. Kiffin is the one that in 2016 after LSU lost to Bama showed to Orgeron the binder that they had on LSU. That’s what led to LSU putting together a shadow staff.
So yes Kiffin knows the value of a shadow staff, is a very good offensive mind and will be a pain in the arse for who ever he plays against.
