Is this a bad year to be getting rid of a coach if you aren't a top tier team? Seems like there are some huge openings and all of the available "top tier" coaches will be plucked away leaving crumbs for "lower tier" schools. Not bashing VT by any means, I just find it hard for a school like them to get a great coach this year.

Never was a fan of Fuente. It was clear he was going to ride Paxton Lynch to a bigger job. Classic case of a coach getting a great qb who performs well against inferior competition.

I didn't realize he had been there for six years. For some reason it hasn't felt that long. Shane Beamer seems like the obvious candidate.

Think about why now..why would VT do this now when they could have saved 2.5 mil by doing this in a few weeks..the candidate they want could be gone soon so they pulled the trigger on Fuente
