The host is wishcasting a bit. Yea the players wanted to know if lane was leaving and, professionally, lane couldn't tell them so he really could only ignore their "team meeting" to get info on "are you accepting the LSU job?"

That does not equal lane not carrying about our trying to poach (if anything, would be the opposite of poaching) players. The AD said, not incorrectly, if you're going to go then just go now and that includes staff. So... his assistants had to go right then. There was no coach poaching in that respect. It all HAD to happen then, per the OM AD, and lane did not abandon or poach the players.

Rivalry aside, and just as we would, the Ole miss hubbub is emotional reaction to realizing they are little brother. It's anger stage, but at some point they'll hit acceptance. Maybe if and when we hit the playoffs year one, or if Golding crashes year one as a head coach.

Good post. Glad to see John share his thoughts. He’s right and to add to that, nobody said anything about Kiffin leaving in a negative sense until it was known that he was coming here. Then all of a sudden, it was an issue.

It’s hard not to laugh at the hypocrisy of the media nowadays. It only became an issue when LSU was going to benefit.

To me it all boils down to the reality that they look down their noses at LSU and Louisiana. Hell, Desantis tweets about UF were a nothing burger too but let Landry speak out….lord.

He didn’t expect it and to John’s point, if Lane wanted to sabotage Ole Miss he would have skipped the egg bowl.

Also, if Ole Miss had just made it known that they were promoting a coordinator to head coach they might have been able to keep some of the assistants that left. These guys had to assume they wouldn’t have a job with a new head coach coming in so they went with what they knew.

Just poor management by Ole Miss all the way around.
