I thought LSU couldn't offer a contract to anyone longer than 7 years? Isn't that the state maximum?

Apparently Texas doesn't have that issue.

Curious though…what if Jimbo cashes it in? What if he doesn’t have the same fire he had a few years ago? What if he is not “The Next Coming”? What if he continues to put out 9-4 or 10-3 seasons? Is that worth 10 years and 75 million? Offering someone a 10 year contract (or Michigan a “lifetime” contract) is just insane in my eyes. At the end of the day, even $75 million guarantees you nothing.

You guys are obsessed with guarantees. There are no guarantees. You hire the best coach you can and live with the results. It'll either work out or it won't but hiring a better coach tends to yield better, more consistent results with championship upside.

Go bargain basement on your hire, and those odds of winning a championship are almost nil. But hey we saved money and he talks like us.
