Just a reminder, that Kiffin’s agent is also Sexton. Who knows what kind of bullshite Ole Jimmy is up to.
Speculating about Franklin switching to Sexton and his reasoning is just that.

Jimmy Sexton is known just as much for getting his clients’ current schools to pony up big money as he is for getting their prospective new schools to do so.
If you’re Franklin:
Hire Sexton. Flirt with SEC school that has close ties to Sexton. Get a massive raise and extension from your current one.
It’s a smart move on Franklin’s part, either way.

...or Franklin is Woodward's target, already knows this past summer that he's getting rid of Orgeron, Franklin's old agent won't talk to Woodward, Franklin fires agent, signs with Sexton. Negotiations begin thereafter.
This could be already be over with.

Franklin was caught hiding behind a curtain so he wouldn't have to interact with fans. Keep that head case out of BR.

Similar theory as what I’m thinking, but different. Franklin wants the LSU job badly. LSU may have offered him the job early, and his previous agent advised him to push for more money, leading to LSU rescinding the offer… which leads to Franklin firing his agent, hiring Sexton, confusing Ohio State with Illinois, etc. You know… doing all the things you’d do if you messed up your own life’s dream.

I think this is the most plausible scenario. Franklin is a pussy (see clip of him hiding from fans). An SEC west job is the absolute toughest in the nation. He has a soft job where he can win 9 games a year at Penn St. They will never fire him.
Hell, Paterno wasn’t really that great plus he covered up pedophilia for years and wasn’t fired.
