It was going to come out sooner or later. Thought we’d maybe get to the Wednesday before Thanksgiving before a lot of this hit the fan. I guess 1 week doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things but we’ll see how the rest plays out.
This is Oklahoma 100% feeding this information to “insiders”. They’ve been aware of what’s going on but I think now they’re seriously considering matching LSU and provide him the budget he wants at OU for his staff. They must’ve hit a snag with whoever they reached out to as their #1 choice to replace Riley with.

Riley isn't going to use Feldman to pass on a lie. Feldman broke the story about Riley becoming Offensive Coordinator, he broke the story Riley was replacing Stoops as head coach at OU. You can feed a lie to some other media guy, it's not being fed to Feldman.
Riley isn’t the one feeding Feldman. Feldman most likely has a pretty good source in Norman. Along the lines of an associate AD or the the SID.
All Riley has to do is assure that source he is staying, and Feldman runs with the info.
Riley might not even be involved. OU is in full deflection mode and trying to put out any fires.

Except, you gotta think its a ridiculous amount of money though. This is like doubling his salary. They might do it, but Woodward is definitely pushing them to the edge.
Now, Riley's (or his agent's really) job is to push both sides to the edge of the envelope. Which is why there would be a verbal agreement in place, but nothing final. That's the dangle to use against LSU.
Noting the highest bidder doesn't necessarily win. The side that Riley perceives to want him the most wins. That perception can be created by several things:
- bonuses
- perks
- the tone of the responses (even if the money increases)
- * the step-rate of the increases
* = very common. One side tops the other by say $50k. You come back with a cool million. One side is just trying to win- barely. The other side just said frick it, I'm all in. It's not always the first or even final number... but how fast you get to the final number.
