re: It sure feels like Lane announces he’s staying at Ole Miss if they win today

If Lane says “I want to go to LSU” but wish to remain at Ole Miss through the playoff run” it puts Ole Miss in a weird place.
If they say no they’d presumably would have to fire him which would open a portal for players to leave. Would there suddenly be a host of MS players announcing their intention to hit the portal, with some choosing to follow LK to his next job? And there might be some sort of relief to LK financially if he’s still under contract.
And if Ole Miss allows LK to stay knowing he’s leaving after the playoff run it puts them way behind in their search for a new coach, with other prime candidates already locked up. Or does it? Can they negotiate with other candidates while Kiffin is under contract and could potentially change his mind?
This is better than a soap opera!
