I think Long would not have released the name unless we basically did not have him sowed up. I still think Pettersen could happen but if he changes his mind a back up plan is in place. The offer is substantial and I do not even think Cal could match it.

One thing to remember here... if Petersen is really available, I would expect the Horns to summarily dump Mack Brown and offer him the world. They have been eyeing him as Brown's replacement for years.

And Arkansas may have deep pockets, but Texas is in a league of their own in this respect.

I would never argue with that. And I do realize Texas is considered one of THE top jobs but I don't know- does Peterson from Boise seem like the type of guy who would want to deal with the Texas-sized ego, drama and stress that would bring? Maybe? I just think it's a great job but I can see how someone could turn them down.

You've been paying attention.

I think Petersen has been seen as the successor for several years and given the chance he may go somewhere else, I think Texas steps up and says it's time to Mack. Mack may have already said that himself if your believe some people.

As stated before, Money will not be the only reason a established coach would leave, Like I said why would a coach wanna give up being a contender in their conference to go somewhere they know are destined to finish 3rd or 4th in the division every year..
