Is previous DIV-1 (FBS) HC experience a necessary criteria

for the next LSU Head Coach (whenever that search begins)? If so, how much Experience (approx.) qualifies to make an accurate assessment?
Answering this would help to define the list of candidates for LSU HC should the job become open.
I think it is one of the metrics by which a candidate should be judged, but is not necessarily a requirement. There may be some candidates who do not have HC experience but are "rising stars" (Champ, Malzahn, etc.).

The day and age where programs take big name coaches from other similar programs are few and far between. The days of Muschamp to UF and Jimbo to FSU are more likely and realistic. Fans don't like to hear that because they think that everyone is an option but that's simply not the case.

I would hope so, for a program that is top tier.

It's not an absolute requirement, but if you don't have it, you better be the best damn co-ordindator out there or have won a bucket full of FCS titles. Not having been a major college HC is definitely a strike against you.

Otherwise you are recycling crap. Think about it?

Good question. I think the next coach needs minimum 15yrs HC in SEC, and atleast 1 NC.
Some one get the number to Mary Lee's in Knoxville, Fulmer is in demand.

I'm not cutting on you, but this whole board act like we have to get a guy who has NC's as a head coach and my question is why would that guy leave? He's already doing everything he would do here for the same money somewhere else. If that guy is available then there is a reason. The guys with acceptable experience are also hasbeens. We will get without a doubt, the biggest coaching name we've ever hired this time around. The program is finally in a position to demand that.
