sadly, they all have been notified they will still have a job next year.. for Hoke and Muschamp this is their last chance though. Its bowl or bust for them. Pelini is a little more safe due to the players liking him (for some reason), it all depends on the coaching landscape next year.

This was the one I really didn't get this year. I think Pelini has done some good things at Nebraska, but he's practically been daring them to fire him all year. I'm just really surprised they kept him around, especially given his remarks at his last press conference.

If there's ever a year to fire your coach and not have to worry about competing with other schools, it's this one. Nebraska would be top opening by far right now.

should've clarified, for Brady its BCS or bust. They have a little brother complex, first with Ohio State, and lately with Michigan State. The only thing stopping them in the next few yrs from making a switch is availability of a long term solution thats better than what they have.

You mean the one where they hired a successful, proven coach and then immediately sandbagged him, pulled the rug out from under him, and never gave him a chance?

^^^^^ Someone who gets it.

I read a bit of John Bacon's book on the Rich Rod era and it was a fascinating insight into how UM administration pretty much sandbagged him from the start.

UM seems very much like USC in that they have this misguided obsession with recreating the past by hiring familiar faces from the glory years (ie Moeller, Carr, Hoke). Rich Rod aside, they haven't made an out-of-the-box hire since Schembechler.

Don't get me wrong, the way he left WVU was terrible (you don't do your alma mater like that). I have no sympathy for that crap of trying to get off scot free without having to pay a buyout.

You obviously know better than any of us -- what happened there to cause RR to leave Morgantown? He was a freaking god there from what I remember, and those teams of his were legit and tearing everyone up. Wasn't it a disagreement with the AD over promised facilities upgrades or something?

He almost took out an undefeated OSU.

No. He's not on the hot seat.

Thats part of it, the old AD wasn't really equipped to handle the modern sporting environment. He also paid for a cheerleader to get an abortion which was getting ready to come out in the news.

Not for next year. If he lays an egg next year, it could be trouble. If he makes the Big 10 championship game, or is in the hunt for it down to the end, he's ok. If he goes 1-11, and the 1 is Ohio State, he gets at least another year.

Yep. They got a great coach but their damn arrogance of "We're Michigan! He's gotta do it the Michigan way!" wouldn't let him do his job. Their arrogance is to blame for the failure of the Rodriguez era, and for setting back a great coach's career.
