Alleva's letter at the end of last season about being a nice year but how we aspire for championships.
Some felt it was not ringing endorsement for all that Les had already done for LSU.

Which is why I think that letter may come back to haunt Alleva. Either by Les leaving or forcing Alleva to ante up to keep Miles from leaving.

Alleva didn't do such a great job picking the basketball coach. With his background in the ACC one would have expected him to hire an assistant from one of those schools.

Dandy don mentioned something about "inside issues" in his post this morning.

I'd be interested in knowing what kind of issues Don is referring to also.

I don't think there's any question DD is referring to the relationship between Alleva and Les Miles.

Another Craw. TJ laying huge dump and Miles getting heat with winning record. Perception of double standard.

are you making this stuff up, or are you claiming some sort of inside source?

And that was this season when LSU was 5-0 after the Tennessee game.

Didn't bring your "A" today Paulu. This makes almost less sense than your OP.

LSU basketball coach Trent Johnson.

And I don't think it matters who is coaching basketball, because that's not a moneymaker. LSU football is what supports 98% of the other athletic programs on campus. The other 2% is LSU baseball which is self sustaining.

There is a lot more riding on LSU football than LSU basketball.

Alleva's record was right on target, and a clear message for Miles to get his program together. It was a professional shot over the bow.

Well, it was a nice season. Not elite or outstanding, but nice.

It certainly wasn't mediocre as some wanted to claim.

That letter also said we should celebrate the fact that LSU football is thriving.

The only real warning flag or shot that letter produced was directed toward the OC and who can disagree with that. imo

It's quite easy to see that Miles may feel like Alleva is not 100 percent behind him, and that may make his decision to leave easier.

you may be correct, but that letter cannot be the reason(s) why. it miles is that damn sensitive he couldn't operate as a HC, esp on this level. alleva was simply trying to pacify the fanbase and i'll bet a dime to a donut miles read the letter way before alleva sent it.

i've been a miles defender and supporter. I don't think the letter was out of line. Excellence should be required. If he said it after this season, alleva would have been out of line. saying after last season, especially how ole miss turned out, he was not out of line. That letter may have caused l.m. to work harder and step up his game. no different than les expecting the same excellence from his players.

Then there was the letter sent out this year stating that Miles had complete control over Personnel decisions on the staff. Again, Alleva putting it on Miles' back (distancing himself). Miles may feel like Alleva is not 100% behind him (and he may not be).

Everything is on the back of any HC in the SEC, but I saw the AD letter you referenced in your post in the same way for the most part.

Who knows what their relationship is like, but I really haven't seen anything yet that's way out of line or leads me to believe Miles doesn't have Joe's 100% support.
