I've been saying this since 2007. Michigan never offered the job to Les Miles, and the LSU administration panicked and gave Les a huge contract a riduculous buyout attached (he hadn't even won a SEC championship when the contract was completed).

The buyout from the first contract was rolled-over into the revised one. It was $1.25-$1.5 mil to Michigan; it's STILL THE SAME.
His salary jumped, NOT the buyout.

You are speaking of the buyout that Les Miles pays LSU if he leaves on his own. I am talking about the buyout that LSU owes Les Miles if they fire him.

Finally the 2007 Miles to Michigan thing is starting to come into focus.
Based upon everything I am reading now, it seems Les was never offered. He was the pursuer, not the pursuee. Several ranters have been saying this for years, but nothing was ever confirmed. I wonder if this changes the perceptions of the Miles lovers?

I think the "Miles lovers" like Miles because of his track record at LSU.

i have a hard time believing michigan had no interest and miles was the over interested-stalker girlfriend. there was definitely some mutual interest and something happened to quickly submarine the whole deal. i would just lllooooooooove to know what it was, too.
