I'm just so spun after dealing with all the Riley to LSU Certainties Posts versus the damn ones claiming no way he leaves OkieU as though he loves that dumb place as much as he loves his mom. I'm sick of it!!!!

Did he win as much or more at LSU?

He did not.

End of story.

Woodward was hired to beat Saban, not poach him. If it’s not Riley, it’s 1b Petersen

If you can’t beat them, hire them.

shite fire I've wanted this very thing for years, but I've had to curtail my crazy arse self, my immature emotions; and of course it has never happened. Nick didn't come running to us in 2016, so why would he now; that's what I keep telling myself.

You make a great point. Saban cares an awful lot about legacy, in fact. Currently, he’s likely to end up with his name on the stadium and anywhere else he wants it. Leaving for an in-conference rival as a mercenary to end his career after spending the previous 15 years proving to people he wasn’t just a mercenary would ruin his legacy here and among the national media.

There isn’t a single rational reason Saban would leave for LSU or any other university at this point.

Would he be the first coach to win a natty at a school, leave, win a natty then return to first school and win another natty? Might be intriguing to him.

Well but he was still growing/becoming the incredibly polished Saban that he has been since arrival at Alabamm. When he was at LSU, I oversaw him make more than 1 mistake. Yes, he won the 01 SEC and won the huge 1 in 03 of course,, but I saw some real frickups in 01, in 02, and again in 04. Again, that version of Saban was very good; this Alabamm version of Saban has been greater than great. HE EVOLVED in a huge way.

I think pretty highly of the key job, but thinking savant may leave Bama for anything other than beach life is crazy at this point.

If you want to convince me it's Meyer, I'm listening. Meyer is bigger than Riley obviously.

I'm still holding a glimmer of hope that it's Petersen, which one could argue us bigger than Riley as well

Probably, but he’s already unquestionably tGOAT. He doesn’t need any more cool tricks. He’s going to solidify his legacy of building and sustaining the greatest college sports program of all time from the ground up. He’ll go out on his own terms - but it won’t be to coach an in-conference foe.

Agreed, just thought it was an interesting point. Win your first and last natty at same school.

My understanding is that he reached out to come back to LSU after his time at Miami.

It wasn't feasible to do it because Miles was winning so many games.

He got a huge offer from Bama and that's that.

He's not coming to LSU. No more than Mark Stoops is.

I still keep thinking Petersen too, bud, but my cousin got me concerned on Petersen when he reminded me/made me aware of the not so great job Petersen did in RECRUITING his last couple years at Washington. We both believe he's a phenomenal coach, BUT that recruiting has us concerned.
