's a great coordinator. But that doesn't guarantee success. Short sighted is hiring the next up and coming coordinator.
Short sighted is hiring an interim coach that when given the chance, wasnt successful enough to keep the ole miss job. Short sighted is giving a position coach the HC job because of what he did with someone else's team in a 10 game stretch. If you want ed orgeron to be lsu's head coach you dont give a shite about lsu football. Period.

tom herman were on the sidelines right now and he rolled out two games just like the last two dominating performance on offense and defense everyone would be lining up to suck his dick not this '[yawn] [slow clap] nice job i suppose but literally ANY coach in the country not named les miles could do what you just did Tom. call me when you do something that impresses me.' bullshite.
bullshite. This team playing well is an indictment of miles noy a plus for O. We were supposed to be this good.

quote:absolutely serious. Head coaching experience > coordinator experience. If you want to hire a coordinator, a very young coordinator over someone with head coaching experience then you hate LSU football, prefer the purple pants uniform and have a poor relationship with your mother. Period.
Are you being serious? Proving you can run a side of the ball is better than being a dline coach. Please show me all these position coaches getting head coaching gigs.

But is bad HC experience better than great coordinator experience?
I would say no.

I would be willing to give him a shot based on what i have seen in his interim stint at USC and what he has done so far at LSU. I think recent results should count in his favor and not be ignored.
But is bad HC experience better than great coordinator experience?
Y'all are acting like he's my number one choice in the search. i'm not even advocating him for head coach right now - just over Aranda. which isn't even an option just a weird hypothetical put forth by the OP.
Aranda doesn't seem like a head coach to me right now and that's okay because he's an awesome DC.
