Not wait a week or two and continue the search??? Why rush to make a decision on the last day of regular season? This, I think, is the worst decision Alleva made and he should be ridiculed for it. There's no reason to rush to this decision, as he's done.

It's so Alleva can say he got the guy he wanted all along and it's proof if he does it before Herman is announced at Texas. It's basically the dumbest reason ever, but then again that's Joe and we are LSU!

Exactly. You could have widened the search. What if someone else has binder?

Well let's see. He has been looking for a coach from the time he fired Miles. That's more than two months which is not a rush decision. There were two guys we really wanted, Fisher and Herman. Fisher has reportedly given Aleva outrageous demands to take the job which is why it fell through last year and this year. When you read the articles about Herman it was obvious Texas was always his first choice and Texas had him as it's first choice. The only reason he was in talks with us was to use us as a bargaining tool to get more money from Texas.
Orgeron proved he could win with this team. Why look elsewhere? Aleva told him the job was his if he could win out. Nobody was going to beat Alabama this year and the Florida game should have been a win except for some snafus by players, not coaches.
There was no guarantee anyone else they could have gotten would do a better job. Especially someone from another part of the country who had no recruiting ties in Louisiana, Texas or Mississippi. The team wanted Orgeron , the alumni for the most part wanted him and he went into his job interview totally prepared with a long term plan that he had put a lot of thought into.
Hardly the worst decision Aleva has ever made. That would be Trent Johnson.
The keys to Oregon's success is now whether he can get a quality OC and retain Aranda. I am scared to death that Aranda may go to Texas with his friend Herman.
