It's not uncommon to have an assistant that doesn't recruit by choice, or just isn't good at it.
to be fair, this isn't typically your DL, DB, WR, or RB cocah
typically these are teh "lower level" coaching slots

and Austin Thomas
i don't see him being a recruiter for 2017. i can't imagine the NCAA would allow a waiver for a full year, and if they did, this would open a can of worms with programs like Bama

I've read on this site that Alabama has a $1 million budget dedicated to recruiting where LSU has about $300,000 to the same cause. It seems much of that goes to a much larger support staff that is analyzing potential recruits and reaching out to top players earlier and keeping in touch more often. I would anticipate mastery of Twitter monitoring and use of other social media resources can be effectively used to provide the perception that the key recruiters / coaches and the head coach seem "present" ("Real-time" accessible) on nearly on a non-stop basis.
How many times have we read that a recruit was really given a push by Alabama and continually contacted by them. This doesn't happen by the coaches alone. There has got to be much happening behind the scenes for such a well oiled recruiting engine to keep humming along. Does this potentially add to staff directly under Austin Thomas that has a dotted line in reporting to Dameyune Craig?
I'm thinking this approach is worthy of further exploration towards being part of the team's budget.
