If we can't get Jimbo or Herman, we should give Coach O a game-to-game contract.

Think about it. What do we have to lose? A game-by-game contract would give Coach Oeaux every incentive to do his best every single game, and his players would give 110% to fight to keep him as coach.
Rallying around CEO with passion would be a rallying cry for Louisiana, bringing in more fans and revenue.
O would recruit his heart out knowing a big commitment would automatically trigger an extra week in his contract. Whatever happened it would probably be the best recruiting class LSU has ever seen.
Losing a single game would put him on probation for a week, and he would have to win or get a big commitment to get out of danger. I know he would respond and lead us to greatness.
Let's give coach O a chance and I think this would be a great way to do it. There's no risk with a contract like this and it could lead to great things.

I love O, but give him a real contract if the other 2 fall through. He will never be able to recruit with a 1 year contract.

Yup. A game to game contract is not feasible, and his recruiting classes would be terrible. No player would commit with that kind of instability.
If it isn't Jimbo or Herman, and it's decided that Orgeron is the better fit over some of the others (Fedora/Fleck/etc)... then you have to offer him at least a 3 year contract. Orgeron won't command the same price tag of the others, so it wouldn't be as expensive to terminate it early if it isn't going well. And, if Orgeron could get a quality OC to run the offense and keep Aranda, I think he would be more successful than he was this year as the interim head coach.

I think so. I know that other schools aren't doing a game-to-game contract like this as much these days but it would work for us, and why do we care what other schools are doing when we can pick a coach/contract that will work great for us?
