I just dont see the appeal of taking over a mid big10 school with the situation Mel Tucker created. I dont know how much money Michigan State threw at him, maybe that was enough.

He got a top half Big10 job and was leaving what was becoming a Mt West job. He didn't have much of a choice.

He basically admitted he’s been looking to leave for a while. Got to admire his honesty

I think he was gone anyway but Oregon State getting kicked out of the P5 basically sealed the deal

How long is "a while" though.

He's known the PAC is gone for a while.

Without the conference disappearing he'd probably stay.

Hell, someone pointed out that OSU probably won't be able to afford him going forward without a big media payout. Which they won't have next year.

It's quite possible his AD asked him to look around.

Ya, tough to see a top 20 team just go to shite.

And then to step into the situation he's stepping into and the fact that michigan state isnt a good team, almost feel like he should have held out a little more for a better job.

That’s an extremely tough break for them. Tulane left the SEC in the 60’s and has never been a member of a power league in my lifetime.

I couldn’t imagine being in the club and just randomly getting relegated to the mountain west
