If LSU is looking for a new DC, why not Jimmy Lake?

Dude had fantastic defenses at UDub. Maybe not the best head coach, but was a really hot commodity not that long ago.

Turned down Bama a couple times.

He'd be a good hire. LSU might look at him now that Freeman is staying.

Jim Leonhard would be another good option

Not sure LSU would have a shot with him. I doubt he leaves Wisc unless it's for a HC position.

I forgot about him. He did have some good defenses, but the PAC was fricken awful when he was DC. Like USC, Oregon, and nobody else. Good that he has some NFL experience; not so good that he has very little SEC experience. Kinda hard to judge performance. I'm partial to B1G and SEC defenses.

Then you shouldn't want Freeman either because he has never sniffed SEC either. Didn't seem to hurt Aranda when he came over here.

Why do people always suggest Leonhard? He’s a Wisconsin alum.

He can't be hired for a real job this offseason since Washington blew up him pushing the dude so they could fire him. When he goes to Bama as an analyst nobody will say a peep.

Here's the pitch for Leonhard: Dave Aranda came to LSU from Wisconsin. A few years later, he's the HC at Baylor. If you produce as a coordinator at LSU, you WILL be a HC sooner rather than later. You'll male a shitload of money while you're in BR too. The only question you need to ask yourself is whether or not you can have a top SEC defense with NFL talent at every level of defense.

Because Aranda came from UW.

Lots of deep thinkers here.

*He turned down the Packers and he's a WI native. He isn't going to BR to have swamp arse 9 months out of the year.

I’ve mentioned him a couple times in other treads. Woodward was still at Washington when Lake was the DC under Petersen so there’s familiarity there. Obviously it’s BK’s hire to make but can’t see why he wouldn’t kick the tires if he’s available.

I don’t think they overlapped that much actually. He was brought in as a DB coach in Woody’s last year at UW. Became co-DC a couple seasons later.

I said Big 10 or SEC were my preference. Aranda came from Wisky. I never thought we were going to get Freeman bc ND would be nuts to let him go.
