re: If it is down to Miles vs. Hoke at Michigan, its Miles

If they really wanted Hoke, it would be done already. I don't know what he's making at SDSU, but Michigan probably doesn't have to offer more than $1 million or so to get him there since he's already told SDSU that Michigan is his dream job.
They may still hire Hoke. However, the signs point to the fact they will at least talk to Miles. There may be less common ground, because, Michigan Man or not, Miles isn't going to take $1.5m or even $2m to go to Michigan - he will expect, at least $2.5m, and possibly some other concessions - he may need more if he's expected to then pay his buyout from LSU - perhaps $3m as a floor. If Michigan balks at those numbers, Hoke may indeed be their man.
(With all of the NFL talk surrounding Harbaugh, they must have considered something in the $3m to $5m over 5 years to be in the reasonable range of what they expect to offer a coach in demand.)

I know I've said I didn't think Miles would get a sniff from us, but considering Harbaugh is clearly going elsewhere, I wonder if DB will now go after Miles. What I find interesting is that if you read Michigan Message Boards, you rarely find any sort of post regarding Miles. People are pissed we didn't get Harbaugh, and then freak that we're going to land Brady Hoke. No one ever says anything about Miles.
To me, getting Miles makes the most sense since clearly the Harbaugh ship has sailed. He has a proven record in the SEC, won a National Championship, beat OSU, ties to Michigan (if that is really important), made it known in the past he wants to coach here. Plus he is older so he could give us a good 7-8 years then retire and if Harbaugh is still a top coach, he'd have the NFL out of his system and we can bring him in. Logically it makes the most sense for Mich to go this route over Brady Hoke.

The consenus seems to be it's Miles. It would suprise not shock me, if you guys hired Hoke with no proven success and a major player.

I have to think if Hoke was their number 2 we would have heard something by now since his season is over and there is a recruiting class to try and keep.. If no hire by Monday then I will at least believe they wanted to talk to miles about it
