Ideas for New DC

I'm sure this thread has been started a million times, but it is something that has been eating away at me for awhile now.

We now know that BDP is going to be the head coach at Northwestern and that Mallory is being seriously considered for the DC spot at New Mexico. So, who does LSU hire to replace them (granted Mallory does in fact leave)?

Does LSU try to pry someone away from the pro ranks to fill the spot? I can't think of anyone off the top of my head, but I suppose it's possible.

What about a DC from a smaller school that has played decent defense? By the numbers, UConn, South Florida, Boise State, Northern Illinois and San Jose State all had top 25 defenses this year. Of course, none of them were playing SEC-caliber teams. But, I'd have to think that a DC from those schools would rather coach at LSU, seeing that it is a higher profile school.

There's even the possibility that a defensive minded head coach from a smaller school might be interested. Being from out west, two guys in particular come to mind.

Joe Glenn was just axed as the head coach at Wyoming, and he had some pretty good teams in the past. He took the 'Stangs to their first bowl game in quite some time, and they even beat Ole Miss a few years back.

Another guy that would be interesting would be Robb Akey. He is the head coach at the University of Idaho. They aren't so great (competing against Boise St. for players has to be tough), but he was the DC at Washington State for about five years and coached some very good defenses, featuring Marcus Trufant, Erik Coleman, Rien Long, Jason David and a few others. He was always a pretty fiery guy, and never seemed afraid to get into the face of a player if he messed up.

Just a bored Tiger fan's two cents. Please post what you think would be a good idea.
