Les is not worth $5M year.

I don't disagree, but Michigan is desperate and Brandon wants to bring home a big time coach that will please the Michigan fanbase. A SEC coach with 4 11 win seasons in 6 years sounds totally effin awesome if you're Michigan.

Put yourself in Alleva's shoes. Why even try to compete with $5 million. Let's say Alleva matches and Miles stays. First season Miles fails to win 10 games Alleva is going to field a shitstorm of criticism. If I'm Alleva, I tell Miles LSU can't afford to match and let him go. Not that Alleva will hire a comparable or better coach, but because Alleva would be going "ALL IN" on Miles and digging his own grave if Miles resumed 4 or 5 loss seasons or worse.

Personally, I have a ton of completely unreliable sources that have absolutely no connections to anything. They all say that Miles is going to stay.

5 years 25 million from UM

When Harbaugh got the same from the 49ers, that was exactly the same amount I thought Michigan would offer Miles.

If Miles gets that offer, I hope LSU does not match the offer. Miles is neither a Michigan man or an LSU man, he is a Dollar man. That's not meant to be a knock on the man, just saying that's how it is.

I also forgot that there is possibly much truth to he and Aleva being a bit put off by each other.

I remember it being said that last year (end of 2009, early 2010) Miles wanted to ditch Crowton and Aleva told him, "You hired him, you keep him." Aleva didn't want to pay the buyout.

I think this story ends by tomorrow afternoon. I think Miles is going to Michigan.

This. Miles will not pass up going to Michigan this time, IMO. Miles is no dummy, he knows that LSU fans will be calling for his head again if he has another 4 or 5 loss season. I would like him to stay at LSU but I don't see it happening. And most LSU fans won't realize how good of a coach he was until he is gone.

Given that the 2011 schedule looks like the most difficult in LSU history, a 4 or 5 loss season is not out of question. Looks like a smart play on Alleva's part to save his job.
