Several former Saban assistants have failed when they got the big chair (e.g. Muschamp, Dooley, McElwain) so there are obviously no guarantees, but I really hope we are not looking at a repeat of 1987, where we wouldn’t give Steve Spurrier a serious look because we were all in on Mike Archer. After that fateful decision we we were lost in the wilderness for a decade.

Can we stop posting about Napier already?
Let's just assume he is going to Florida & move on. Woody obviously did not want him or he would've already been locked up.

His coaching history is very impressive.

And several are huge successes (Jimbo, Kirby, Tucker, Napier this far).

Dumb analogy. The Archer situation was much more analogous to the O hire to be honest.

Lsu and tons of fans are short sighted and yes this is happening just like that.

If it ends up bill O’Brien or stoops , I think I might need to reevaluate my emotional investment

No it's not. It did in 2016 though.
