If Les Miles resigned tomorrow, what type of jobs would he be in contention for? Would a major BCS program like Tenn or Notre Dame look at him. I heard no buzz around Miles in 04 and none today.

He would not be looked at by major BCS programs. Maybe Miss St and Washington.

I would put him in the same league as Ron Zook when he was run out of gainesville....probably a middle tier big 10 school

Its always tough after a down year like this one. Especially early on in your career with a school that has had success before you got there. If he comes back with a 10 win season next year, I think he gets the respect he deserves. Anything less will lead to questions. another 7 win season will probably lead to his firing.

Iowa State, Indiana, Miss State, etc.

Agreed.
So what bag of snake oil did he sell Skip Bertman?

He agreed to all of Skips demands. Didn't even ask for a reach around.

The embarressment of publically getting stood up by Del Rio after Stanley botched the interview led Stanley to make the quick easy hire. But, Stan got his paycheck so thats all he cares about.

"If you take this job, do you agree to buy Skip Bertman's football camp from me for the small sum of $500,000? This amazing price includes a bag of Wilson footballs and a summer lease on a 1986 Ford F-150."

Skip sitting on his hands until 12/26 didn't help.

Yes. MNC winners will always be looked at. Being looked at and getting the job is another thing entirely.

Michigan was THE job. Miles will never sniff a BCS bowl with any team outside of LSU.

You are crazy. I didn't say he would get the job, but if he quit tomorrow he would be interviewed at all the big jobs.
He won a MNC and ADs would give him a look.

The question what type of Jobs would he be in contention for.
Given his win loss ratio and the MNC, he would be in "contention" for any job. Not saying he would get them, but he would be in contention.
Part of winning on a job interview is having a likable personality. Miles has this. I think he probably gives a great interview. Doesn't make him the best coach, but I bet he does give great interview.
