would be a poor career choice for him. Miami is a dead program
no it isnt. Ruiz has had enough and is running the show. He is going to get the stadium built(paid for by him), he backrolled and hired MC. the new UM health system too made 400mill in profit this year.
but when a alum worth 20b has had enough with the losing and is willing to spend 500m on a new stadium alone....yea things happen
look how much better OK State got after TBoone Made his 250m donation. go look at that program in the 80-90s and compare. other than the thurman thomas and barry sanders years they were horrible.

And he isn't bankrolling a new stadium by himself

This is what he's doing
quote:
Coral Gables-based attorney John Ruiz is forming an eight-member committee that will push for the development of a college football stadium at Coral Gables Senior High School, according to the Miami Herald.

Ruiz provided scant details to the Miami Herald on how the construction would be financed, who would foot the bill and whether the Coral Gables City Commission would even entertain his bold idea.

I've been a fan for eons and I am doubtful that Ruiz can pull off a stadium. However, he has loads of money, is a big fan, and is willing to push the envelope. No way they'll get an on-campus stadium (because Coral Gables) but within a few miles of campus - a shot.
All that said, we finally have some boosters/BOT with loads of money who are willing to support (fully) the program. That is a BIG change especially having alignment with the administration.

he offered to buy the current HS and build another. and there had been plenty of talk of him bankrolling the stadium and him essentially owning it.
he is worth 20b and is old and wants a freaking winner in miami.
ftr a strong miami is very very good for us and CFB. a good FSU is too.
we want UM, FSU, Tenn, USC, Mich and Penn State to be powerful.
we want a weak A&M, Weak Texas and a great recruiting staff at lsu
all those things help lsu a ton and help CFB. Honestly you can have a stronger Texas so long as A&M is weak too.

This.
No fan support, school support, no on campus stadium etc…
Just a bad deal all the way around. Surprised ole Mario decided to hitch his wagon to that disaster of a program.
Some people see what is, others see what can be. Most of those same issues existed before Schnellenberger took over in the late 70s.
