In the past you had the traditional February to April period. With that you could make a change in December and still have time to "recover" to get your marquee names signed. Now with the 72 hr period starting Dec 20, does that make the pressure to make these moves faster or possibly cause not as many moves from established P5 coaches.

Think I would rather take the time to get the right coach than rush a hire in order to get the select few kids who want to commit early.

Seems like if a kid is that confident in his school choice at that point, it would be tough for him to flip. And I figure most kids will still decide at the regular signing day

In theory, the kid that's willing to sign in December has made the decision based on the school and not the coaches.

At least, that was a lot of the reasoning publicly offered by the proponents of the early signing period.

We will see very quickly how far theory is from reality immediately after a coach leaves a school and an early signee asks for a release.

I do not know if many 5 stars will use the early period. I understand the reasoning, but it is risky, as if you have a kid sign early, I would forbid him to play in any type of All Star game.

That said, I know they say go for the school, not the coach, but we all know it does not happen that way, at least in some cases.
