How much does LSU "recruit itself" such that the emphasis should be more on..

This. As much as LSU has an advantageous situation for recruiting, we are surrounded by too many other coaches who excel at it to just back off. The one thing O did get right was winning most of the recruiting battles for top in-state players over the last 2-3 years. The next staff has to make preserving that a huge priority going forward.
The head coach doesn’t have to be a Kirby or Saban-level closer, but if they aren’t they would have to structure the staff to ensure recruiting is never an issue. Aranda would fit in this category I’d he gets a look here.

Did LSU recruit itself in the 90s? Saban built something that helped with recruiting, but that machine’s gotta be maintained.
