How much control does an oc at lsu have?

Just curious...in normal cases, what exactly does the oc do? Does he create plays? Have control of calling them in games? I know I watched practices with saban where he basically was on the field teaching technique...etc. I got the sense that he ran the show. Don't know what role the dc had in his system. Is miles this way with the offense? Does he create the playbook? I guess I'm just curious how big a role the oc actually plays in miles' system. Is this hire really going to determine what style offense we run? Thoughts?

Ok...put another way....does it really make any difference who we hire....and if so, why?

in so few words, yes.
and werent you just on the OT basically calling everyone dumbasses a little while ago?

Not calling them dumb asses in so few words....but acknowledging that nothing has changed in the year since I last was there....same stupid crap.

And don't think my question here was dumb....lots of emphasis being placed on the ot hire...if it is miles offense and philosophy as some have suggested...I just don't know how big of a difference it makes who is hired....I get recruiting and all of that...I'm just curious how much say so the oc has in miles' offense. Had this discussion today at the office. Nobody really knew what the oc role actually entails under miles...

That's the problem with you guys. Everything is all or nothing when the truth is probably somewhere in the middle. I never said a good OC would not make a big difference. A competent OC obviously would help alot. The Miles lovers went on and on how LSU would find it difficult to replace Miles with a big name. They were probably right to some degree. The point I was trying to make is similar to the one they were making. Just cause LSU is a great program does not gaurantee we can get any OC we want. Let me ask the question this way. If you were Charlie Weiss, Fuenta, etc. would you rather work for a hands off the offense defensive coach like Muschamp/Saban or a hands on the offense coach like Miles. Coaches want control and autonomy. This makes LSU not a fit for every OC.

Does it matter who the d-cood is at Bama? I believe LSU's o-cood will be in a similar situation here. Yea, the o-cood will call the plays, however, Miles will have his fingerprints all over the offense.

The only reason for this is b/c Crowton's offense sputtered the last 3 seasons. I doubt Miles had his hand in the offense much back in 2007. I bet that if the new OC proves competent then the offense will be all his.

If you don't think Saban has input into offensive style, gameplanning, and play calling during certain situations of the game, you are fricking retarded. No head coach gives their coordinators complete autonomy.

Lsu lost multiple games due to saban meddling with the offense.

This. It amazes me how many people think Saban doesn't even talk to his OCs basically.
