Actually, it's you who don't get it. Why should we let a guy who really wants to be somewhere else clean our pockets, unless he's the second coming of Knute Rockne?

That's the point.

Michigan has an additional something that Florida, Texas, Notre Dame, etc. don't have that we CAN'T compete with: it IS Les's alma mater. All other things being equal, if any of THOSE schools ever expressed an interest in Les (which, BTW, they never have), I think he stays here.

Why haven't other schools expressed interest in Les Miles?

I don't know. You brought up the possibility, I didn't.

i like les as my coach. i do. but we shouldnt let him try and squeeze some more money out of us. he has a contract- a lucrative one at that- he should honor. if he wants to walk b/c he doesnt get a pay raise? call his bluff. like someone said- theres plenty of coaches would leave in the middle of the night to be our head coach.

you get a pay raise/extension when you bring in hardware. not when you keep leveraging your dream job against us. if he wants to be butt hurt about wanting more money cause we said no, so what?

Anti Miles posters think a bidding war is wrong
Pro Miles posters think it is ok

Bottom line is football is a business and each company decides the value of individual employees- it is business pure and simple-

The question is do you have confidence in LSU Administration to handle the business deal?

Florida,

Couldn't get a big name coach so they hired an untested coordinator

Texas

Has a big name coach who evidently isn't going to leave anytime soon

Penn State

Has a legendary coach who also looks like he's not in any hurry to leave.

then I might consider throwing money at him.

You might consider throwing big maoney? Like you have big money. Like you have any say so in the matter?

How don't you feel a little stupid? You should.

This is a freakin message board, not a court of law. By its very nature, this is a place for speculation, conjecture and make believe. If you can't understand that, you're an idiot.

Are you high? They didn't offer any big name coach that we know of. Mullins had his shite packed and ready. Is that a big enough name?

I don't think Knute would hold up to the gruelling recruiting demands or the high flying passing schemes that's saturating D1 football now. It's a young man's game.

Rockne was 43 when he died in a plane crash. Miles is 57.

My guess is because LSU is one of the best jobs in the country. Any other school is a lateral move, but Michigan is his alma mater so it's got that going for it.

I understand Michigan is his alma mater, but Miles has been at LSU longer than what he was at Michigan during college...and quite honestly, he knows what he has at LSU...if he were to move to Mich, he would still have the anti and pro miles supporters...maybe even worse than he has at LSU...

No maybe about it. The microscope at Michigan will make the a armchair qb's here look like Miles apologists. We bitched and talked about firing a coach for poor gameday decisions. They sent a man packing after 3 yrs. I don't think in anyway that RR should have kept his job, if you give up the points their defense did then you are an idiot to think you would keep your job. But realize that if ESPN and college gameday ever did a satire of you and UM stemming from a full dumbass clock management mistake you made on Saturday, you would not see Monday. Michigan will be 10x harder on Miles than BR if he goes.
