Actually, the relationship with Patterson began at Utah State where Patterson was mentored by Bumpas. Patterson coach DBs and Bump was DC. Bump had just come from Notre Dame where despite winning the Sugar Bowl, Holtz fired the entire defense....fricking all of them!
Patterson and Bump have been together for some time but knowing Bump like I do, he would probably love to see some of the big "dough" flow to him since Patterson has made his.
Bump interviewed with Dooley for DC at Tennessee. He has a good situation at TCU but that is no like being at LSU.

@LagdonCG - so how much longer do you think he coaches. Even though he's 65, if I thought he would coach 5 more years, he would be my first target.

Always read that he was pissed at Arkansas and would never coach there. Don't know if true.
