Kris Richard was instrumental to the formation of the Legion of Boom defensive secondary. He helped coach and develop players such as Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor, Brandon Browner, Byron Maxwell and for his rookie season only, Shaquill Griffin

Kris Richard was just let go by the Dallas Cowboys. He has ties to Pete Carroll, and so does Coach O. Pete Carroll's defenses have always been stout at USC and in the NFL. Plus let the Cowboys pay some of his salary while he's at LSU.

Not a bad idea, IF he wants to coach college ball. Ed usually hires guys he knows.

If he had more DC experience he would probably be mentioned more. I wonder what the list looks like for LB coach unless they focus on DC’s that can also coach the LB group.

No NFL guys. Stick to current college DCs with proven, recent track records. We don't need to be taking any potential gambles.

This is my “outside the box” pick. Richard would be a great recruiter.

Richard was hired in 2008 by Carroll as a graduate assistant coach for the USC secondary. He followed Carroll to the NFL and joined his former team, the Seahawks, as secondary coach.

Id take Richard over those current college DC's. How'd Venables; defense do against LSU? Want to hire Chavis again? He's a proven college DC.

I'm a Seahawks fan so I'll tell you this would be awful.
Hes a great DB coach, but once he became our DC, the defense fell off big time. He had the legion of boom before they started getting injured and the defense under him still took a noticable decline.
