Two most consistently good SEC coaches, Saban and Smart, both defensive coaches. 2nd year Aranda, defense, just beat 5th year Riley, offense, with lesser talent. So why is there confusion out there.

Those two are the top 2 recruiters in the nation, that probably what is separating them from everyone else

I do think elite defensive minds are harder to come by than offensive minds in the current landscape of college football, but I will say the most important thing for the next HC isn't that they have to be an expert on one side or the other. It's that they also understand the other side of the ball that they are not an expert on. I think Aranda fits that description and that's why I like him as a top option.

Made this thread the other day, completely agree with you. Its just that about 60% of thr board disagrees with us. I think it's a mistake not to hire Aranda.
