How to find an OC

This sounds better than looking around a staff that has had horrible offenses since forever.

Unfortunately, our fan base would lose their minds if someone who wasn’t well known was hired. Jimbo is the perfect example, they ignore covering up a rape and how terrible he did this year, because name recognition is all that matters to a very vocal minority of the fan base.

Thanks for the link; I had seen it before and finally read it. From what Gundy was looking for:
quote:

* Must be good with quarterbacks.
* Must make good adjustments.
* Understands speed, tempo.
* Must be ready for outside criticism and welcome it.

I'm thinking #3 makes Yurcich less likely, as I believe one of the contention points between O and Canada was that Canada wanted tempo and O didn't.

But no reason not to follow the same process Gundy did...

That's not true at all. You're showing a fundamental misunderstanding of the part of the fanbase you're talking about.

But Gundy could also mentor his hire

O sure as hell can't

Grundy was a fantastic OC and knows what he wants.

O just says pro style because he doesn’t know anything other than those 2 words.

Is the P for Ponamsky? If so then he's too busy looking at coast guard and tugboat porn to be bothered with browsing the Interweb for a new OC.

According to this article, Gundy actually set up requirements, knew what he was looking for, and searched for who he felt would best meet his needs. Are we expecting this bunch to do that?

Gundy could have plucked from a large pool of up-and-coming offensive minds to groom a fourth.
This accurate statement about Grundy in the article is why these two situations are not comparable.
