Texas was blindsided by that information and many of the boosters went into panic mode. In fact, there is supposed to be a contingent of rich boosters flying out to Memphis to go meet with Herman tomorrow. But nonetheless I've read on several sites that it was Herman's agent that leaked that information. Now I don't know how he leaked that information. He may have told a Texas booster and then that Texas booster told everyone else. Hence, the reason why so many people believe it was Texas that leaked the story.

An issue with the leak theory is this- the risk. If it is a leverage play, Herman loses said leverage if LSU suspect his agent as the source of the leak and pulls back from negotiations. In most situations like this, and intentional leak is seen as a breach of good faith and terminates any deal. If that were to happen, Texas would have no incentive to raise the stakes and could take its time and not up a potential offer. LSU could attempt to go back to Fisher (assuming that really was dead, as reported) to put the presssire back on Herman if he really doesn't prefer the drama at UT, as some believe.

So, for all the reasons you may think that this leak came from the Herman camp, there are still reasons against it. The only direct report is that the word came from Texas boosters who were unhappy. Anything beyond that quote from Geoff Ketchum is pure conjecture on both sides.

And he did it in his very first post and none of the others made that same assertion, and just like clockwork it came to fruition.

Not true.

He had a few "leaks" before the misinformation part came up.

I've read it on several sites earlier tonight via links that were posted on this board.

Feel free to produce said links. The Geoff Ketchum link I referenced is already posted in this thread.

Did any of them have anything beyond "sources tell us, blah blah blah?" Anything more reputable than FootballScoop, which is where the false rumor of Texas Admins flying to Houston before the game ended came from. The only other report that made ESPN was that Herman would listen to another offer from Texas.

The only other outlet to mention details of a source was Orangebloods, which referenced sourcing someone on Herman's staff for their story about LSU getting close to a deal. Everything else is anonymous so far.

I'm going to give my 2 cents...

Alleva targeted 2 tier 1 candidates and at least 8-10 others including O. Alleva likely has a tier 2 candidate locked down - that's a Gundy/Fedora type. It isn't splash, but it's good hire.

I personally think Jimbo was target #1. It makes so much sense. But instead of all eggs, LSU was also high on Herman, and we're paying that 6-7mil range, so first to jump gets a "let's do this".

I also don't think UTA is in the mix. Herman will be at UH and jump next year or be at LSU. When you're 41 - old for some, young business wise - you don't jump into a black hole job. For Jimbo, this is his opportunity to get out of FSU and go where maybe he's appreciated more. If not, it's FSU until he retires. And he'll have them competing for playoffs often. I prefer he did it at LSU.

If LSU ends up with a Gundy, Fedora, etc, TD will melt into a pile of burnt plastic, but it won't be nearly as bad as the vent.

I think Texas probably had the inside track but botched it.

That's ludicrous, as Texas hasn't fired Charlie Strong yet. Not to mention, that there was several reports this week that Herman had given Texas a time table to talk to him by such and such time or forget about it.

I also believe Tom Herman will be LSU's next head coach. Could I be wrong? Absolutely. I don't claim to be an insider.

By their own actions, I think you are very wrong and no one has said definitively that Jimbo has turned down the LSU job. Hence, I think you want a spread offense so badly that you can taste it, even though Herman isn't even a proven head coach yet and could turnout to be the next can't miss Charlie Strong.

. but I don't think this is a play. I think this is for real, and I think it's basically official by Saturday.

It's very obvious that it is a smoke screen just as LSUtigers9458 said would happen. Indeed, everything he has said so far has been 100 percent accurate, unlike both DA and Random. If Herman turned down the job already, we would have heard the news, but he hasn't and that' why there is no news. Good luck.

How?!?!?! How has everything he said come to fruition? He said there would be a lot of misinformation and LSU would end up with Jimbo. Without LSU hiring their guy yet, how could you say any of this is misinformation? There's no way to say that.

How can you say this?!?!?! If we don't know who the head coach is yet then how do we know we've been fed misinformation? I know I said I was done for the night but I've seen this dude say this multiple times and it's just wrong.

There is NO WAY to say that we have been fed MISinformation if we don't even know what the RIGHT information is yet. You follow me?

This. Dude even went on a rant about ESPN wanting to screw LSU. This was 3-4 days ago. Never wavered. If he's a troll. He's an elite level troll.

The Texas meltdown came after Armstrong, Herman's agent, leaked it to them.

You know this for an absolute fact? And if you cite reports could you link them? I just want to see for myself because if there is a credible source that says Armstrong leaked the info then that's huge.

Meaningless post.

OMG, LSU loses out on Jimbo/Herman and hires a decently proven HC.

O noes mullet, what shall we do?

I could live with Gundy if we missed on Jimbo/Herman. Today is gonna be a wild one later on especially after Houston is done playing.

This either makes no sense or Herman could give 2 shits about his players if he would give his agent authorization to do this the day before his team plays a fricking game.

If 9458 proves to have been right from the start it'll mean three things.

1) The man is a fricking legend. (I assume it's a man?)

2) LSU got Jimbo Fisher and life is good

3) Alleva is far more competent than I think he is. This would be a masterwork if it comes to pass.

Well 9458 was banned twice by Tigerdropping already and had to reveal whom his sources were to get unbanned both times. According to him, one of them is a very tight friend of both Jimbo and Pruitt. He also claims he has two more sources directly in the LSU war room working on hiring the new head coach.

Alleva if far smarter than he is because last year LSU was roasted bigtime by ESPN after F king and Bobby Jindal nixed the deal. Hence, Alleva has learned from LSU’s previous mistakes and planned before hand to dupe ESPN this time around via smoke screens and tons of deliberate misinformation, which is what DA and Random appear to be passing around as inside information. While 9458 said it would be happening.
