However, if rumors are to be believed - and I think they should be, more or less - Jimbo asked for a 10 year deal. NOBODY gets a real 10 year deal.

That's the thing, though. Who's putting this information out there?

Did Jimbo want a 10 year deal last year? If so, apparently we acquiesced, so why would it be a problem now? If he didn't want a 10 year deal last year, and had agreed to take the job, why does he want a 10 year deal now?

The reports from today just seem a little too orchestrated and convenient.

- LSU and Tom Herman close to a deal.
- Story conveniently breaks on ESPN just as our game starts.
- LSU issues a press release a short time later, in the middle of our game, with our AD chilling in the suite.
- Word comes out that Sexton and Jimbo are trying to gouge LSU, so we walked away.

Like I said, it may very well be Herman.

But I think there may be something to 9458's posts.

If this is what is actually taking place, then I would be inclined to believe that Herman is ours.

Your administration is THE running joke of college football. I'll believe they can get their act together when I see it.

I can't help but feel this way. However, I do wonder why 9458's sources would share something that no one else has shared - the "secret plan."

Texas leaked because Herman turned them down for LSU.

How can Texas offer a job to Herman, since they still don't know yet if they will fire Charlie Strong or not?

Anyway, it was Herman's agent who leaked the news that Herman had been offered by LSU. Hence, if true, it would probably mean that Herman and his agent are using LSU's offer as leverage to extract more money out of Houston University or are trying to get Texas to make a substantial offer should they decide to fire Strong. Also heard that a contingent of millionaire Longhorn supporters are so concerned by the news that they are flying to Memphis out tomorrow to go talk to Herman.

Which brings us to this week. After everything that has already happened between Jimbo and LSU, should we really believe that in the final few days of the regular season, that LSU and Jimbo suddenly can't agree on major terms in the contract (ie, salary)? We went through this last year apparently without any issues. We've had 2 months to communicate with Jimbo via backchannels. Should we really be inclined to believe that after all of this time, communication, research, and planning, that LSU and Jimbo suddenly have major disagreements over specific monetary figures in the contract? Especially after hearing from the TAF that "money won't be an issue"?

It may very well be Herman, but the more I think about this, the more credence I give to 9458's posts.

I am inclined to believe this as well. As other posters have pointed out, why hasn't Jimbo signed the extension with FSU yet? Until that happens, it is not over with him.

How mad will we be, hypothetically, if Herman goes to Texas ... hypothetically?

I'd be pretty mad... hypothetically.

Honestly I really want it to be Herman but it's looking like Jimbo more and more .

I won't, because Texas actually had an inside track on the guy, and you can bet your arse your boosters have been in his ear all this time, as well, anticipating Strong being fired. If we hire him, it will be because your administration dropped the ball. That's how we got here. They've been fricking up big time, and may still get bailed out and be given one last shot. My money is still on them fricking up again, because it's what they do.

I bet you're really a lot less confident than you let on. I would be. I wouldn't trust the idiots running the show in Austin to do anything right. The total media shitshow last weekend was ample evidence of their skill, or complete and utter lack thereof.

Better than him going to an SEC opponent.

How do you know this? When the story broke it said that it was first reported by a Texas run site.

You can see all the references to Armstrong in these tweets from the site owner.

Obviously the former rather than the latter. Not to mention, it is exactly what LSUtigers9458 said would happen earlier this week. So far everything he has said had come to fruition, but yet you want a spread offense so badly that you just can't make yourself believe it.

He's not the idiot that all these short-sighted people are trying to paint him as. He's not wrong until Jimbo signs that extension with FSU.

I've said repeatedly that I'm happy with either Jimbo or Herman, so that argument holds no water.

I don't think Herman is making a leverage play. I don't think Herman would allow a leverage play to go public before his final game at Houston. I think Texas probably had the inside track but botched it.

I also believe Tom Herman will be LSU's next head coach. Could I be wrong? Absolutely. I don't claim to be an insider.

... but I don't think this is a play. I think this is for real, and I think it's basically official by Saturday.

How?!?!?! How has everything he said come to fruition? He said there would be a lot of misinformation and LSU would end up with Jimbo. Without LSU hiring their guy yet, how could you say any of this is misinformation? There's no way to say that.

It doesn't feel like a play by Herman. The Texas meltdown implies that the leak was a desperation act by Texas.

If we end up with jimbo, I'm very happy. With Herman, I'm very happy.
