I don't know whether he was actually offered the job. I just know he put the matter to bed with LSU before Herbstreit broke his memorable news. That's all I cared about at the time, so I didn't ask for any other details. I assumed, at the time, there'd been an offer or that a rock solid offer was forthcoming. I don't trust Michigan's side of that story, either, though.
