though I am kind of sad that Kelly went for the comfort hire of Denbrock at OC.

I wouldn't call it a comfort hire although I can see that perspective. This is Kelly's offense. He hired someone that knows his offense already and can help set expectations and teach it to the rest of the staff. That's a good strategic hire, imo.

If you were expecting Kelly to hire someone who wants to run their offense and have autonomy over the offense you were setting yourself up for disappointment from the beginning. Just not how Kelly runs his teams/offense.

If true.. I think it's a solid hire.

Will the WR's that are in TP regret leaving the program?

How does this appeal to current and future WR's?

I believe he is a solid coach. UGAs offensive scheme does not allow their WRs to showcase their talents as other schools.

Pickens, Hardman, Godwin, McKenzie, Wims are all in the NFL or NFL bound that Hankton has coached.

If he can recruit at a high level (he will) LSU will put the WRs in position to succeed. Even when the offense this year was terrible Boutte still got his numbers.

I'm not going to pretend like I followed this guy's career but here is his credentials per the UGA website:

quote:

At UGA, Hankton has coached SEC All-Freshman wide receiver George Pickens, the MVP of the 2020 Allstate Sugar Bowl victory over Baylor. Additionally, he coached several big-play receivers in 2018 in senior Terry Godwin and juniors Mecole Hardman and Riley Ridley who combined for 1,475 receiving yards. All three were drafted in the 2019 NFL draft: Hardman, 2nd round, Kansas City; Ridley, 4th round, Chicago; and Godwin, 7th round, Carolina.

Hankton joined the Georgia staff in February, 2018, after coaching wide receivers for three seasons at Vanderbilt, where he coached veteran receivers C.J. Duncan and Trent Sherfield along with Caleb Scott and Kalija Lipscomb. Sherfield ended his career among the program’s best in receptions (136) and 1,869 yards.

Prior to his tenure at Vanderbilt, Hankton coached receivers for three seasons at Dartmouth in the Ivy League (2012-14). During that time, he helped the Big Green to a 20-10 overall record, including an 8-2 mark in 2014.

Hankton’s produced an All-Ivy caliber receiver all three years at Dartmouth. In 2012, senior Michael Reilly earned first-team recognition with Ryan McManus receiving honorable mention.

I know he's a great recruiter but how good of a coach is? Anyone know? I'm not going to trust a bunch of Georgia fans just because they say he sucks when that offense will always be handcuffed by Kirby.

Dont trust anything UGA fans say.

Hankton in LA is a different beast than Hankton anywhere else.

So, basically anyone that goes to Georgia's staff on offense magically regresses. Hmmm I wonder what constant there's for that. Monken had crazy credentials until he got to Georgia.

Now we know why he's getting off Georgia's staff and from underneath Kirby choking their offense/WRs. Wouldn't be surprised if Monken is gone after this game.

This is easily true if we factor in the Head Coach.

Let's not forget the eleph...err, the other guy in the room! Want to talk about a strategic hire? Sloan is your boy! He's going to be the innovator in the offensive scheme. Tech threw the ball all over the field and he coached it up and developed the QBs. His influence will be the "Joe Brady" like influence. NO it will not be instant "heave it all over the place" but you can bet there's gonna be a more open scheme incorporated into the strengths of the CBK/Denbrook offense.

Continue developing innovative techniques such as Joe Brady did with opening a door and the ball being right on you and catching it, wearing the glasses and 10,000 catches in the off season, the receiving corps will continue to be elite..

An interesting thing I saw from Jamar Chase last weekend that reminded me of something we all know and - in my case anyway - take for granted: Chase has STRONG hands!
You gotta think S&C guys have them working on that, huh?

Taking a position coach from a program like Georgia is very difficult to do.

Kudos to BK on hiring a position coach with his experience.

Do you have any substantial evidence that you could point me to that shows this to be the case? I'd like to see a link if he was allegedly trying to hire Monken.

Because Denbrock knows his system and is an exceptional tactician??? It's the same reason Saban hires whoever he wants for DC and it doesn't really matter as long as they can follow his lead.
