I think this could be an A hire. Who knows? It's got some risk, but this guy can recruit, and he's an intense, hard working guy with a load of big time experience.

I don't see this as a bad hire at all. I'll wait before giving it a letter grade.

Muschamp is the real deal, IMO.

Any team with the prestige of Florida, Bama, LSU, UGA, etc. should NEVER hire college coordinators unless there is some extenuating circumstance.

It's just a bad idea.

Muschamp may turn out to be Bear Bryant, but Florida should really never have to guess about whether the coach they hire will be a good coach. Anytime you hire a college coordinator, you're guessing.

If this were Ole Miss, MSU, Vandy, UK, this would be an excellent hire.

C at best. To the morons saying it's a swing for the fences gamble....uf is a top job. There is no excuse for a gamble.

INC- Incomplete

I have no idea what they have. Bob Stoops was a great hire. But....The asst coach hires aren't always a sure thing.

Positives- Enormous upside potential and he know the SEC well.

Negative- Unproven. His defense at LSU, AU and UT while good, wasn't the best at times. I remember Texas raping us in the Cotton bowl using only Roy Williams. How could we not stop that?

Gutsy call by UF.

i think C- is too low. muschamp has the resume and he's only gonna get 2.7 mil. so, if he doesn't work out, uf alum can come up with the bucks easily and he has a huge upside. i would go with a solid B or B+ considering muschamp has time to recruit this year.

At first I would have said C-, but with the Applewhite hire for OC, it's a D at best.

It's funny though. You can go to either the TX forums OR the UF forums, and the vibe is about the same on both. Not supposed to be like that. One of them should be in full meltdown, the other should be elated. That ain't the case...and there's a reason for that. It's a reach at best.

I fricking hate Florida, and I think muschamp is a very overrated coach. So, I give the hire an a+, and fla fans will look back and say "we thought zook was bad?"

I think he may be overrated, but certainly not a BAD coach. Thing is, the progression is supposed to be top rated asst, HC at a Youngstown/Kent St. type program, then step up to a mid range BCS school, THEN if you do an amazing job, you get to be considered for jobs like this.

I agree though...I'm giddy with excitement of UF going back to Zookness.

Dude ain't no slouch. He has coached under several great head coaches (no guarantees) so I feel a lot of these low grades are premature and hatorrade. With that being said, I don't recruiting falls off and I think he will assemble a formatsble staff.

D.

Gary Patterson would have been a great hire and woulda brought swagger back to Florida's D and a balanced offensive attack.

UF is the #2 CFB program in america and they hire a coordinator?

Pfff...They were the #6 team in the SEC this year! And I don't buy that Muschamp was the only coach they spoke with or offered the job to either.

This.

As a Florida fan....C with the curve TBD....

Didn't Florida always have a good defense? Unless Muschamp runs a similar Offense than Meyer, it will take him a few years to get "his guys" in the system...

He could end up being an excellent HC. But when you have a top 5 program with what should be a pick of the coaches out there, you go with an unknown commodity. He has been at some good programs working under some good HCs so intuitively, he should have learned how to be a good HC - but Florida???? I just don't get it.
