For frick's sake, he's exactly what LSU needs. Double his salary. I don't understand how this guy wouldn't be a perfect fit. Someone needs to tell O and Alleva this. Don't go air raid.

There’s so damn many good coordinators out there who are just under the radar. It can’t be this difficult. Hell, San Diego state had great offensive production, Indiana gave Ohio State all they could handle, North Dakota State is constantly winning championships, look at what Troy did to us! This “all the eggs in one basket” shite is killing us!

If we go with Ensminger, I'm gonna lose my damn mind. The same people that are willing to pay Aranda insane money can't figure out how to get a good OC in place. Obviously getting a little ahead of myself, but I'm not overly confident right now.

Someone with “sources” (I think maybe Geauxtigernation) said it’s gonna be a “money is no object” approach. If that’s truly the case, then no way should it be as difficult as they’re making it seem. The world is LSU’s oyster in terms of offensive coordinator’s. Get this shite done for fricks sake!

I don't think it is/will be a problem to acquire a high quality coordinator quickly, but need to come to terms with departure of one we have first...

True, but I don’t think they’re totally in the dark with Canada’s departure terms. I’m sure they have a fairly accurate idea of what it’s going to cost. I feel like Alleva is scared to make the call, and O just doesn’t have the creativity to expand his horizons in a coordinator search.

I’d love to have the guy. After researching though I don’t think there’s anyway he leaves Gundy for a lateral move. Gundy gave him an unprecedented opportunity, and I think he’s indebted to him big time.

LSU is half assing it if we don't get a real oc and make ed o into late career Bobby Bowden.

I'm sure he'd give OSU the opportunity to come close to matching an LSU offer, but will they?

Most people around here seem to be advocating Briles and Gilbert at the moment. The power spread isn’t air raid. Both of these guys have a solid track record when it comes to offensive balance. That’s what makes them appealing for us. Their systems wouldn’t take away LSU’s traditional strength in the run game.

That said, Yurcich is a very good option, as well. I like all three better as fits here than Cumbie.

I do think he would make a move for more money, but also to prove himself away from Gundy. There's always the perception that it's not his offense and he's not calling the plays.

Playing for a defensive coach would answer that question.

He did interview for head coaching jobs at Tulane and Kent State in the last couple years.

Yurich owes Gundy so much. Would be stunned if he left there for anything other than a HC job.

I went to the oSu-KSt game with a buddy this year (he asked me to accompany him to his first ever Pokes game). During that game, I was surprised at how inconsistent the offense was. I mean, the offense is a good system but they had probably the best pure passing qb in the nation and they were hot and cold on and off, a lot this season. And they are fricking loaded with offensive talent.

Not saying definitively that Yurcich would be a bad fit here, but their offense this year wasn't quite as consistent looking as previous years. Gundy is the offensive mind for OkSt, so I really question how much of the inconsistency and likewise the sizzling hot times, I mean, how much of that was Gundy and how much was Yurcich? I'm not totally opposed to the Yurcich thought, but I feel we might be better looking at a coordinator that has been successful standing on his own offensive philosophy while under a defensive minded head coach.

That's just my thought. This is a very critical transition period and I personally think we can go after just about anyone we want with what LSU is ready to pay. We should take our time and find the best outside candidates and thoroughly vet them all before making a priority list.

yes. it can't be said any better than this. our last 4 spots only contain one offense player (we think) so getting in a hurry is the last thing we need to do. this hire needs to work.

Correct Grand Dad.

Promoting Ensminger is a deal-breaker. Orgeron was hired on the premise/promise he would hire "the very best" coordinators. Steve E. ain't that. No way, no how, not even debatable. If he promotes him to OC, he'll be breaking his promise.

I feel bad for Steve E. b/c he's a good guy and a good coach. And to be fair, he doesn't even want to be OC.
