Why drool over back-to-back failures like Spunky (Redskins/USC) and Saban (Miami/'Bama)? These guys are as hot as the iceberg that sunk the Titanic.
Seriously, we're looking at two coaches who have not had major success since the late 90s (Spunky) and 2003 (Nick). That's the best we can do?

Rex, you have never made a statement that I agree with more.

Saban lost 6 games this year and is the highest paid coach at 4 million+.
You want that? He is a good coach, but 4 million is a lot of dollars and he lost to La Monroe.

I dont think anyone really knows what a blackhole Alabama is now. I am not sure it can ever be a consistent winner ever again. There is always civil war between factions of the alumni that destroy any type of progress they make.

Not a single one of those players was brought in by Saban either. It's like trying to make a dozen of roses out of a lump of dog turd. Think about it. The guy can coach and he sure in the hell can recruit!
Besides, he would be taking an enourmous paycut if he did come back. The Saban family found out the hard way that money doesn't buy happiness.

You people are more delusional than any Bama fan I've ever met. You know who would look bad in that equation if Saban came back to LSU? Number 1 - SABAN. He'd be a joke, and you'd have to keep him because no one else would ever want him again anyway. BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR...YOU MIGHT GET STUCK WITH IT. Alabama would spin it as "good riddance" - they learned from the Francione fiasco that if someone doesn't want to be there, let them get the hell out and good riddance. He was 6-6 this year, people! It wouldn't be hard for Alabama to spin that one in their favor. LSU would look like the second biggest idiots after Saban. You'd sign a 3 mil, 10 year contract with a $10 mil buyout for a coach who went 6-6 and stayed at Alabama 1 year?? ARE YOU NUTS? You'd look UBER-STOOPID. The media would finish Saban off - it matters not whether he cares what they think, bad publicity hurts whether you care or not, and it would make you all look like the Mickey Mouse club. So instead of US looking like big goobers, you guys down there in Red Stick would look like the biggest goobers of all, and Alabama would be percieved as "dodging a bullet"...we don't have to pay Saban another red cent if he leaves. ADIOS. Alabama might never get a decent coach again, and might be mediocre for the rest of my life, but we'll never get the distinction of being as big a goobers as you corn dogs will be if you beg Saban back. You people are in so much denial, it's hilarious!

First of all, he doesn't give a shite what anyone thinks of him.

Not really, he has already proven what he can do at LSU. What he did at bama is irrelevant. Even if it did matter, remember this was with Shula's players

We have dealt with our fare share of bad publicity already this year

This coming from a bama fan, who all of a sudden decides to post on an LSU message board when there is speculation that their so called "savior" is going back to the true promised land. I'm sorry buddy, but it looks like you are the one who is delusional and in denial

I don't think Saban is coming back, but all the gumps coming out of the woodwork scared as hell is good shite, whether he does or not. They are in meltdown and nothing has happened yet. If it does come to pass we will have to take shelter due to fallout.

Yeah, this is great. I never thought that mere speculation could be so pleasing.

I'm not even close to being in denial...just bored and came here to see what was being said. Another Bama fan put me on to this site because it's so entertaining, AND HE WAS RIGHT, it IS!
First of all, it doesn't matter if Saban cares what the media thinks. Charles Manson doesn't care what the media thinks either, but they portray him as a crazed lunatic, and the world knows that by his actions plus media portrayal that he is, indeed, a crazed lunatic. So it doesn't matter - the perception by everyone is still valid, and the perception of Saban will be that he's a flake - period. Perception is 9/10 of reality in most people's minds, so this will effect the college football world's (future players, etc) perception of him. Whether he cares or not doesn't matter - the damage will still be done.
Alabama hired Saban based on his college coaching performance, which was pretty dang good when he left LSU. So the odds were pretty good that he is a good coach. HOWEVER, LSU will be going on the knowledge that he was 6-6 at Alabama this year, so what he did at Alabama IS relevant. Shula's players or not, no one looks at that. So you hire a 6-6 coach for 3 mil? We thought we hired a true winner for 4 mil. this year. If he'd been 6-6 his last year at LSU, I wonder if anyone would have considered him - probably not.
If LSU takes him off our hands, then we look like we dodged a bullet, you dolt. Everyone is laughing at us for paying him 4 mil a year and getting a 6-6 record...so what does that say for YOU if you go after him? That you're bigger whores than us, and dumber. We have no buy-out clause, and it helps Alabama as much has him. They don't have to pay him another cent.
And Baton Rouge is the promised land? Ok...I guess that depends on your point of view. Personally, I don't like 300% humidity, swampland, and mosquitos bigger than a house, but to each his own.

ForeverLSU,
Just want to say, good luck in the SECCG, and I hope all of this crap doesn't hurt LSU's performance. Please beat those inbred mountain goats in those hideous orange uniforms.

TOO LATE!!! But, I guess an SEC championship is better than no championship. Good luck to you too!! Not very often do we get a sensible and friendly tide fan like you on this board. It would be nice to see bama arise from this mess. We need a team to challenge us in the West (other than ourselves of course)

What did you expect? A national championship Nick's first year at Bama? He's a great coach, but not supernatural. Sounds like you don't care much for him. Well, he's got more fans in Louisiana than even he realizes. Of course we want him back! We'll take a repeat of his last performance as our head coach. Where do you think the animosity towards him comes from? From fans who wanted him to stay at all costs. Had he been mediocre, no one would have cared that he left. That's just it, they realized what a loss it was going to be and blamed him because he changed jobs. That's it in a nutshell. So it wasn't his dream job, now he's back in the SEC, hopefully making his way back home to LOUISIANA. And what's up with criticisms about Louisiana? Why do things ALWAYS have to become personal and derogatory? Can't you all stay on task, you know, discuss the ISSUE without throwing in the snotty little remarks.

i,m so sick of hearing Saban's name i could vomit..LSU does NOT need to suck up, eat shite, and hire the guy back...i think it was Saban that said " it's time to move on "....well.....it's frickin time...there are a lot of quality coaches out there...let the guy stay where he's at....somebody hand me a vomit bag.....
