re: WE ARE THE LSU TIGERS!!!!!!

Just a Bama fan wanting to congratulate you LSU fans on your SEC Championship - very good game, and your guys played their hearts out. Congrats on keeping Les Miles - he's a lovable little fuzz ball in his big hat.... and I hope you get to be in the NC game. I think everyone knows who the best team in the country is. I think if you have all your guys healthy, you could beat any team in the country. You're a powerhouse - and being a Bama fan, I respect that, and am old enough to remember WAY BACK when Bama was a powerhouse(telling my age, cuz that was a LONG time ago). Hope we get our program back on track again so the SEC West will get even more interesting. Anyway, good job beating those hillbilly Vols. GEAUX TIGERS!

ForeverLSU,
Just want to say, good luck in the SECCG, and I hope all of this crap doesn't hurt LSU's performance. Please beat those inbred mountain goats in those hideous orange uniforms.

ForeverLSU,
Yeah, I guess you're right...Dinardo had some pretty good guys there, but Alabama isn't just a total wasteland either. Not yet....
I don't see him as a saviour, and the only reason I'd be concerned about him leaving is because of the further instability it will cause. I think he's a good recruiter and could build the program back up, but I don't think many Bama fans ever thought he'd stay more than 4 years. A lot of us see him as the mercenary he probably is, and Alabama needs a tough coach right now to straighten things out, and most realistic fans never thought he'd be there long term. I'm sure there are a lot of coaches out there with that work ethic who could do that, and if he leaves, we'll just find another one - maybe not as good, but maybe better. A lot of us just are curious about whether he's actually talked to LSU about this, and if he's actually expressed unhappiness with Alabama. You won't get straight answers on a Bama board about that, so I thought I'd ask here.

I'm not even close to being in denial...just bored and came here to see what was being said. Another Bama fan put me on to this site because it's so entertaining, AND HE WAS RIGHT, it IS!
First of all, it doesn't matter if Saban cares what the media thinks. Charles Manson doesn't care what the media thinks either, but they portray him as a crazed lunatic, and the world knows that by his actions plus media portrayal that he is, indeed, a crazed lunatic. So it doesn't matter - the perception by everyone is still valid, and the perception of Saban will be that he's a flake - period. Perception is 9/10 of reality in most people's minds, so this will effect the college football world's (future players, etc) perception of him. Whether he cares or not doesn't matter - the damage will still be done.
Alabama hired Saban based on his college coaching performance, which was pretty dang good when he left LSU. So the odds were pretty good that he is a good coach. HOWEVER, LSU will be going on the knowledge that he was 6-6 at Alabama this year, so what he did at Alabama IS relevant. Shula's players or not, no one looks at that. So you hire a 6-6 coach for 3 mil? We thought we hired a true winner for 4 mil. this year. If he'd been 6-6 his last year at LSU, I wonder if anyone would have considered him - probably not.
If LSU takes him off our hands, then we look like we dodged a bullet, you dolt. Everyone is laughing at us for paying him 4 mil a year and getting a 6-6 record...so what does that say for YOU if you go after him? That you're bigger whores than us, and dumber. We have no buy-out clause, and it helps Alabama as much has him. They don't have to pay him another cent.
And Baton Rouge is the promised land? Ok...I guess that depends on your point of view. Personally, I don't like 300% humidity, swampland, and mosquitos bigger than a house, but to each his own.

Garmisch tiger,
I get your point, and I see the frustration, but he knew coming in that this program was in disarray. It will be a challenge, but he is cleaning up in recruiting this year, he's eating Tubby's lunch out there on the recruiting trail in this state alone, and it's just a matter of time until he will be winning at Alabama. Alabama wants to win, will be eating out of his hands when he wins, and he will have a statue if he ever wins a NC there. He's in an atmosphere where they CRAVE winning. So does he want instant gratification, or does he want to build something which is very much HIS OWN? I understand his ties to LSU - he helped your program tremendously. But he can do no less at Alabama, the school is loaded with money and will give him whatever he needs to get it done. I've got friends who know members of the UA BOT, and he can pretty much do what he wants, for the most part, according to them. So what's the beef? Besides the crappy bunch of underachievers we have right now on our team? LSU wasn't loaded when he went there, and he didn't seem to mind the building process.

PitBull,
I said we ALL don't drink the Sabanaid. Some obviously do, but I'm not one of them, and you'd probably be surprised how many don't. A lot of us are still very skeptical about this guy. So my statement was quite accurate.

You people are more delusional than any Bama fan I've ever met. You know who would look bad in that equation if Saban came back to LSU? Number 1 - SABAN. He'd be a joke, and you'd have to keep him because no one else would ever want him again anyway. BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR...YOU MIGHT GET STUCK WITH IT. Alabama would spin it as "good riddance" - they learned from the Francione fiasco that if someone doesn't want to be there, let them get the hell out and good riddance. He was 6-6 this year, people! It wouldn't be hard for Alabama to spin that one in their favor. LSU would look like the second biggest idiots after Saban. You'd sign a 3 mil, 10 year contract with a $10 mil buyout for a coach who went 6-6 and stayed at Alabama 1 year?? ARE YOU NUTS? You'd look UBER-STOOPID. The media would finish Saban off - it matters not whether he cares what they think, bad publicity hurts whether you care or not, and it would make you all look like the Mickey Mouse club. So instead of US looking like big goobers, you guys down there in Red Stick would look like the biggest goobers of all, and Alabama would be percieved as "dodging a bullet"...we don't have to pay Saban another red cent if he leaves. ADIOS. Alabama might never get a decent coach again, and might be mediocre for the rest of my life, but we'll never get the distinction of being as big a goobers as you corn dogs will be if you beg Saban back. You people are in so much denial, it's hilarious!

I want to ask a question, and I'm seriously curious about this: How do you know that Saban is miserable at Alabama? Give me credible sources, not somebody told someone's cousin who told somebody else. I'm not saying he's not, I just want to know when he said it and to whom, otherwise, it's just another rumor. And don't tell me "you can just tell by looking at him". You people are sounding like a jilted lover who will always believe that "he always loved you best -just BECAUSE", regardless of the obvious fact that he's moved on. Do you know how silly that sounds? From what I've picked up about Saban, he makes his home wherever he is and doesn't fall in love with any place. He just does his job, which he loves best. I know the BOT at Bama can be a pill to deal with, but it's my understanding that they've backed off a lot and given him more free reign than any coach ever hired there. His wife gushes about how much she loves their home in T-Town, and they're very involved in the community there. They don't look unhappy to me, but I'm NOT saying they aren't. Because if he doesn't want to be there, most Bama fans will tell you LET HIM GO, AND GOOD RIDDANCE. We don't all drink the Sabanaid up here. We've been down that road (Francione) and if we even smell that sort of sentiment, we lose interest real fast and we'll load him up and dump him in B.R. for ya. He's not God, after all. Only serious answers please, because I'm not flaming - AND I'm pulling for the Tigers to win the SECCG,so I'm not a hater.

Guys....this is all fun to read, but it's getting to be almost too much fun. You guys are a HOOT! Saban can't go out on Alabama's dime, recruit players to UA, then take them to LSU. The NCAA doesn't look kindly on that sort of thing. He's recruiting specific players that Bama needs anyway - your needs are different.
I don't care one way or another, and most Bama fans I talk to die laughing that this rumor is even out there - but they also say if he's stupid enough to go to LSU after one year at Alabama, after all the pounding he took from the media all year, and ruin his credibility FOR ALL TIME, then LET HIM GO. We don't need anyone that stupid coaching at Alabama. We've had our share of stupidity at the helm.
