So I had a conversation last night with a friend of mine who played at LSU under Saban. This is someone you all know and cheered for, and is still close to the program.

He wants Tuberville, here are his reasons-

1. In his opinion Tuberville is a superior x's and o's coach to Saban

2. Saban was successful here because he his a superior recruiter and used his steller reputation(I assume he meant at the time) to push for improved facilities, but with the current state of the program and the fertile recruiting ground that is Louisiana we don't need a great recruiter.

3. LSU had superior talent to Auburn every year Saban was here and look at how many Tuberville won.

4. Most former and current players he knows would support and want Tuberville.

Take it for what it's worth.

I'll take Tuberville as long as he brings Muschamp with him.

and all of his reasons are absolutely spot on and correct, except for one thing..

He overestimates the intelligence of the average LSU fan (or TD.com ranter) that is only going to remember Cigars in Tiger Stadium in 1999.

Re-read my post he only mentioned players not fans supporting Tubby.

I hope after last nights performance and if Tubby smokes(pun intended) Bama tonight that the average LSU fan will wise up.

Why would he leave Auburn for LSU? It makes no sense...

It's a better job. Better recruiting base, less competition for the recruits, better facilities, don't have Alabama breathing down your throat in your on back yard.

IDK, but Id think that maybe having the Auburn AD fly Bobby Petrino in behind your back would want to make you realize that maybe there are greener pastures somewhere else.

The LSU 'job' is 10 times better than the Auburn 'job'

LSU is a great school, but why make a lateral move? I still don't get that...unless he is unhappy at Auburnt....

...because its not a lateral move.

You think LSU would have gotten shut out of the MNC game if they would have gone 14-0?

It's not a lateral move.

Do you not think he was pissed about the Petrino thing?

He's always talked about his jealousy for LSU having the state to ourselves. I think he's shown interest in the job before.

Does LSU have a booster like Lowder? When you get on his bad side, I think you can be out quick.

I'm not arguing that he would do good at LSU. I think he would be a great hire if Miles leaves. Auburn in my opinion is a good program as well. Maybe not as much money as LSU, but they do have a good tradition of winning..

Exactly. It's a lateral move at best.
